If you’re looking for funky, eclectic and soulful music, you’ve come to the right place. With twenty (!) years of DJ experience in everything from bars to “raves” to special events, I’m a DJ who is truly a Muse – setting the mood for people to enjoy, dance, or whatever else is desired.
From my beginnings as a “retro” DJ at a weekly in Oklahoma City, I’ve played everywhere from Kansas City (at the famous Hurricane Bar), Miami (during WMC in 2006), Memphis, Vancouver and Boston (just to name a few). I also did a radio mix show from late 1999 to 2005 on a variety of stations as I moved around the country. I’m mature enough to know the importance of being on time and reliable, but I’ve never lost the sense of joy and fun I get from making people dance.
In 2007, I was asked to be the DJ and sound engineer for the Boston Poetry Slam at the Cantab Lounge. For over four years, I spent Wednesday nights playing music and listening to (and sometimes recording) poetry from some people amazing, some maybe not so, and others on their way there. It was a wonderful time in my life, and I cherish the friends I made there. But it’s a relief now to not have to pack all my gear and drive to Cambridge every Wednesday (I still have a reflexive twitch every time I hear there’s an evening Red Sox game – but I’m sure eventually I’ll recover). My gear now lives in my studio, and the carry bags are packed away.
My style is best described as eclectic, covering styles including (but not limited to!) house, breaks, DnB, Techno, Electro, downtempo/acid jazz, hip hop and indie rock. I’m very creative, know how to build a set, create a mood, and I don’t just play one style (unless it’s required) – I love the freedom of the full dance music palette to choose from. If you’re not quite sure what I mean, stop by the “mixes” tab for some very different mixes to enjoy.
